My grandson, Aiden is four years-old and he is a terrific kid. I call him “little dude” because you can’t call him a little kid. Such as when he asks why he can’t do something; I can’t say: “It is because you are too little,” because then he tells me that he is a big kid now. So my solution to that was to say: “Because you are a little dude.” He is okay with that.
